Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, "In the last 20 years, we have passed more than 2,000 laws in line with European Acquis and the standards of the Council of the European Union," he said.

In his speech at the opening conference of the Project on Supporting the Implementation and Reporting of the Human Rights Action Plan, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said: "We did all this despite the terror malady, the heavy burdens of irregular migration and the treacherous coup attempt."
 

"READY TO ANY COOPERATION WITH HER IN TURKEY"

 
Çavuşoğlu wished Council of Europe Secretary General Maria Pejcinovic Buric success in her new position and added, "She made one of her first visits to Turkey. I wish you success in the difficult task. In Turkey, I would like to mention that we are ready for any cooperation with her. In the 70 years since its inception, the European Council has become a well-established organization that recognizes democracy, human rights and the rule of law as core values."

Çavuşoğlu, continued as follows: "Turkey is also a founding member of this organization has achieved significant gains. Our relationships are getting better every day, based on mutual benefit. It acquired the culture of walking together in difficult times. Both sides benefited. Including in particular the European Human Rights Convention, to which Turkey is creating the organization we have become a part of the common law system. Today, Turkey is party to 121 agreements. We continue our efforts to become a party to other contracts. Our membership to the Council of Europe provided us with an important basis in this process. We wish to see the support we receive from the Council of Europe from now on."
 

"FOR MENTAL TRANSFORMATION..."

 
Stating that the projects and works will continue, Çavuşoğlu said, "In the process of accession to the European Union, we did not settle for legislative changes. We have done all of this for the peace and prosperity of our citizens, in particular educational activities, in order to achieve and implement mentality transformation. The recently adopted Judicial Reform Strategy Paper reveals the uninterrupted nature of the reform process of texts, such as the Human Rights Action Plan, which is under preparation," he added.
