In the statement made on the official website of Minnesota Deputy of the House of Representatives Ilhan Omar, it was stated that New Jersey Senator Cory Booker and Illinois Deputy Jan Schakowsky signed the bill jointly.

It was noted that the bill was also supported by 21 members of Congress.

Senator Booker stated that anti-Islam rhetoric and attacks continue to threaten the security and well-being of the Muslim community at home and around the world.

"Anti-Muslim bigotry is a global phenomenon. It is time for us as policy makers to understand that these issues are interconnected and global," Omar said.

In the statement, it was mentioned that the Uyghurs in China, the Rohingyas in Myanmar, and the Muslim communities in India and Sri Lanka, which are exposed to Islamophobia, are cited as examples, and that those who defend the supremacy of the white race in New Zealand and Canada also target Muslims.

In the bill, the US State Department calls for a special representative to be appointed to monitor and combat anti-Muslimism, and to establish a comprehensive strategy to establish US leadership in the fight against Islamophobia around the world.

Booker and Omar presented a bill against Islamophobia to the Congress for the first time on December 14, 2021, while the bill was accepted by 219 votes to 212 in the House of Representatives, but was rejected in the Senate.
