International Union of East Turkestan NGOs, issued a press release of "No to Genocide!" in the anniversary of Gulja Massacre. Gathering in front of the Consulate General of China in Istanbul, the Uyghurs commemorated the Gulca Massacre in its 25th anniversary and reacted against the "Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics" to be held on February 4 in Beijing, the capital of China.

On the subject, the Uyghurs said, “The Gulja Massacre, which we commemorate the 25th anniversary of here today and want to remind the world, is that the people protesting for their release were brutally murdered by reacting to the unlawful arrest of the youth who organized an event in the laylat al-qadr in Ramadan on February 4, 1997. Although hundreds of young people were killed with weapons by the Chinese army during the protest, thousands of people were arrested, disappeared, 200 people were sentenced to death and 90 young people were sentenced to life imprisonment. According to independent sources, arrested young people out of 300 were frozen and martyred by being kept waiting with cold water sprayed on them in minus 30 degrees cold.”

THE ISLAMIC WORLD IS CALLED TO TAKE ACTION

In the press statement in front of the Consulate General of China in Istanbul, the whole world of humanity was called to take action to save the people in East Turkestan, who are in danger of extinction. In the aforementioned statement, it was stated that the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Organization of Turkish States, the United Nations and other international and local institutions should fulfill their responsibilities by staying true to their founding purposes, and a call was made regarding the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. In this context, "We are here with all humanity, by not watching the Olympics and discouraging athletes to boycott Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, hosted by China, which is committing genocide against millions of people by violating the main goals of the Olympic Games such as Peace, Solidarity and Justice, which was opened today on February 4, on the 25th anniversary of the Gulja Massacre. We call on the participants not to be a part of these bloody games that are against their original principles, to take a stand against the genocide, to listen to the sighs of the oppressed people, to raise their hands and to support justice," the statement said.

CHINA PRACTICES GENOCIDE AND ASIMILATION

In the press statement made by the Uyghurs, it was reminded that China has kept millions of East Turkestan people as prisoners in so-called training camps since 2017, under the name of "maintaining stability" in the region. It was stated that the brainwashing, gang rape, slave labor, torture, medical experiment, organ theft and all other inhumane acts of genocide in China's torture camps clearly reveal what kind of a state China is. “It has deliberately placed and encouraged large numbers of Chinese in the region to change its demographics. With the practices like forced marriages between settler Chinese and Muslim Uyghurs as well as forced abortion, sterilization, it implements genocide and assimilation by reducing the population of Uyghurs in East Turkestan. Opinion leaders, scholars, intellectuals, writers, business people and artists were also taken to concentration camps, subjected to brainwashing and slave labor, many of whom were tortured to death, executed without trial or imprisoned,” the statement added.
