ONLY SOLUTION "SENSITIVITY"

Sağlık-Sen (health workers union) shared with the public the January "Violence in Health Report", which it prepared by using the data reflected to the public. While it was reported to the public that a total of 13 violent incidents took place in health units in January, 19 healthcare workers from 45 attackers were subjected to violence in these incidents. While patients and patient relatives took the lead, 10 of those who committed violence were patients and their relatives, 2 were self-aware and 1 was the managers. In the statement made by Sağlık-Sen, it was noted that violence in health is not system-based and is the most known problem, and that the only solution to this problem is not to increase security measures in health units. It was stated that the solution was through the sensitivity of all citizens.

2021 ANNOUNCED AS HEALTH CARE EMPLOYEES YEAR

In the statement, which stated that the year 2021 was declared "the year of health professionals" by the UN, it was underlined that 2021 should be accepted as a turning point in terms of violence in health.

"The cloud of violence that gets darker with each passing day will make healthcare workers more victims. Unfortunately, as in previous months, the new year's January data justifies this concern," it was said.

Stating that it is not acceptable for healthcare workers to be associated with violence even in the year of healthcare professionals, Sağlık-Sen President Semih Durmuş, "2020 has been a difficult year for healthcare professionals. During the pandemic process, our healthcare workers were worn out, exhausted and tired. In addition to these, they also faced with violence. Everyone should take responsibility for violence that hurts and has become a chronic problem. Since the sacrifice of healthcare professionals is widespread, if 2021 is the year of healthcare professionals, then a new action plan should be created to prevent violence," he said.
