In ten days, the number of cases and the number of people who died from Covid-19 pandemic started to rise. It is not possible to say for sure whether the reason is not enough fighting against the pandemic or whether there is a relaxation in obeying the rules in the society. However, it has been frequently stated that there may be an escalation in the coronavirus cases with the winter months, and the experts continued their warnings about being cautious. Despite these warnings, until recently, there was a slight decline in cases and the number of deaths, but as of December 26, the pandemic began to appear as if it had suddenly taken off.

At this point, it would be useful to quote the three-day case numbers.

The figures announced on December 26 regarding the pandemic were as follows:

Number of tests: 351,965

Number of cases: 20,138

Number of recoveries: 21,214

Death: 173

Figures announced on December 27:

Number of tests: 362,535

Number of cases: 26,099

Number of recoveries: 22,024

Death: 157

Figures announced on December 28:

Number of tests: 368,842

Number of cases: 32,176

Number of recoveries: 23,104

Death: 184

As can be seen from the table, while the number of recovered cases is higher than the new cases, there is a serious decrease in the recovered cases, especially in the 27 and 28 December results, despite the increase in the number of cases. On the other hand, while there is a decrease in deaths one day, an increase may occur the next day. It is not possible to say for sure whether these developments are a result of the Omicron variant or a result of the predictions that the pandemic may intensify during the winter months. However, in the statements made, the opinion that the cases are increasing due to the effect of Omicron is becoming more and more common. Not only that, it is emphasized in the statements that the measures against the epidemic should be increased. In particular, everyone is invited to be vaccinated. On the one hand, while increasing the precautions, on the other hand, statements such as "Omicron overcomes the immunity" or completely opposite, "Omicron does not hospitalize" are coming.

Against these contradictory statements, people do not act meticulously about the necessary measures against the pandemic. The practices at the beginning of the epidemic, especially in public transportation vehicles, especially in minibuses, are almost cancelled. As I mentioned before in this column, 25-30 people travel in a row in minibuses. Although people are a little more sensitive to the distance, especially in closed places, the distance is gradually forgotten.

On the one hand, although the authorities are more and more sensitive about vaccination, distance and mask to prevent the spread of the epidemic, especially in the winter months, while it was forbidden for crowds to gather in closed places, that ban has now been completely forgotten. Political parties, especially the ruling party, take the lead with their meetings.

There's no need to extend the word. There is a relaxation in our people in the fight against the coronavirus, it is up to the managers to find a solution. When I say this, I am not saying that people should be locked in their homes. Because the state does not seem to be in a position to cover the losses of those who have to take bread to their homes, it seems that there are economic reasons behind the fact that some rules are not applied. As such, some aspects of our people's compliance with the rules have been relaxed in the face of economic pressures, and our people see this as an opportunity. I hope that as a result of this relaxation, the hospitals will not be full in a short time.
