At the end of an essential break of about 14 days, I am happy to be with my dear readers again. Let me state right away that I had made a plan to see my children and grandchildren in Istanbul. To put my plan into action, my son came to Ankara from Istanbul to pick me up.
However, when I woke up in the morning, there was a swelling in my throat that I had not seen before. I wanted to show it to the family doctor before I set off. The family doctor stated that the swelling was an inflammation, but it would be good to have an examination to be sure.
As soon as we arrived in Istanbul, we first went to the hospital and the cause of the swelling was investigated. As a result of the research, it was said that it was a microbial condition and inflammation was experienced as a result. With the first intervention, the inflamed area was evacuated and drug treatment was started. Thus, I have undergone a general health check.
As a result of about 10 days of essential leave, I spent time with my grandchildren and also received the treatment of an unexpected disease. By the way, when I said I had nothing, various drugs entered my daily life. Despite all this, I am so grateful for today. God forbid this day.
In short, my determination to start writing as soon as I returned to Ankara was delayed by two days due to some psychological problems I experienced. Thus, our life returned to its daily course. This was to start my daily life by buying the newspapers I bought every morning from the dealer and reading them early in the morning.
Although some of my friends say that it would be better for me to follow the daily newspapers on the internet instead of paying close to 50 liras, I do not know if it is a result of 50 years of habit, but I do not take pleasure in reading the newspaper without taking the newspapers one by one and reviewing the pages. It is as if the smell of ink in the newspaper has created a different addiction to us.
Whatever. When I read the newspapers, I once again encountered the fact that the agenda was inflation, that is, the cost of living and price hikes. In the meantime, the news that came to the fore in yesterday's newspapers were what was done and what was thought to be done about reducing inflation to single digits. By the way, when I was not in Ankara, I saw that the minibus I took to buy the newspapers was increased by about 80 percent.
Because the short distance was 17 lira, the long distance was 20 lira, and the student was 10 lira. This situation inevitably comes to mind, "How will inflation go down to single digits while price increases are in double digits?" brought the question.
There is no need to discuss the difficulty of reducing inflation, especially if gasoline has increased by 82 percent in the last two months. Because it is known that the price increase in fuel and energy products is reflected in all areas of life. In this column, from time to time, I draw attention to the fact that our people need to stop price increases rather than increase wages.
In the meantime, it is natural that the government has a target and work to reduce inflation to a single digit, but it is not unknown that price increases must be stopped in order to increase wages by constantly printing money, especially for those with low and fixed incomes.
However, the increase in wage earners, the rulers, cannot come close to the inflation rate. In the meantime, especially retirees were treated as stepchildren about the last wage increase and no serious explanation was made.
It is stated that the problem, such as the confession of the fact that retirees have been neglected in the last few days, will be dealt with at the beginning of the year. So, how will retirees survive until the New Year?
It is possible to list many more questions like this, but how come the power holders do not need to explain to the public that they will reduce inflation to single digits while prices continue to increase at this rate? Because words do not fill your stomach, it does not cure the problem.
