The tension between Russia and Ukraine is generally explained as Russia's desire to invade Ukraine and the opposition of the USA and EU countries. Of course, there is some truth to this explanation. Because, in the past years, after a similar tension, Russia declared that it invaded Crimea and then annexed it. In other words, the tension between Russia and Ukraine did not arise out of nowhere. However, the incident is not just a conflict between these two countries. As it will be remembered, after the collapse of the Soviet Union, it was said that NATO was established to prevent Soviet expansion, and this discourse was generally accepted in the world. However, with the dissolution of the Warsaw Pact after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the reason for the establishment of NATO disappeared. Moreover, NATO has increasingly assumed the appearance of an international organization that supports US expansionism.

All these evaluations may be found incomplete by some. In practice, however, this has become very clear. For example, after the withdrawal of Russia, the USA continued its existence in Afghanistan under the umbrella of NATO. In short, it turned out that it was not possible to preserve the world structure formed after the Second World War with the dissolution of the Soviet Union. As a result, they replaced them in many of the countries where the Soviets had withdrawn, either alone or together with coalition countries, which were usually their supporters. In short, Russia's sphere of influence gradually narrowed compared to the Cold War years. When we look at the issue from this perspective, the reason for the tension between Russia and Ukraine will be better understood. As can be seen, Russia remained silent for a long time, under the name of NATO, about the expansion of the sphere of influence of the USA in the world, but was seriously disturbed by this development.

At this point, Putin's statement that "if Ukraine is accepted into NATO, war will break out" reveals the essence of the matter. In summary, Russia is uncomfortable with the expansion of NATO's border to the Ukraine border and does not want this. Perhaps at this point, it is possible to say, "Whose property do you give to whom, or whose property do you share among yourself?" However, in the past, when these colonial powers divided the world into spheres of influence among themselves, they did not seek permission from anyone, they did not need this. In short, relying on their power, the world is again divided into spheres of influence. What will be the result; It is not known whether this request will bring the USA, Russia and China face to face in a hot conflict, but it will be beneficial to settle this matter without conflict, but the calculation at home may not always fit the market. Then, unintentionally, a hot conflict may come to the fore, but personally, they will be careful not to step on each other's feet, just as the USA and Russia have been careful not to step on each other's feet. After shouting, they will try to resolve the issue through diplomacy. On this subject, Putin clarified his stance by saying, "If Ukraine joins NATO and makes an attempt to take Crimea, there will be a war." In short, Russia is uncomfortable with NATO's expansion of space, it thinks that it is trying to be cornered. It shows that, all of a sudden, diplomatic contacts, long, short and round table meetings gain weight in the solution of the issue through diplomacy.

At this point, the question of which side will win the issue through diplomacy gains importance. Especially in this tension, Turkey's role is gaining importance. Because Turkey is already a party as a NATO member, besides it has close relations with Ukraine and Russia. As such, if an adverse situation arises, it may be the party that suffers from this situation.
