Readers of this column, I have often tried to express my discomfort with the exclusionary, discriminatory and especially frightening tone of the spokespersons of power wing. In fact, I reminded several times, "We are going to elections, not war, there is no point in turning the world into a war zone".
However, the ruling wing accused the propaganda style of "voting for the opposition, will make you lose what you have gained" or collaborating with terrorists. In short, those who had nothing to do with terrorism were accused of being terrorist collaborators and treason.
As a result, those who adopted this style won the election, albeit by a small margin. Let me say right away that I wish the elections to be beneficial for our people and our country.
In short, when the results are announced according to the allegations made during the election campaign, it seems that half of the voters are terrorist collaborators according to the description of the spokespersons of the government, and when this happens, they become traitors.
Frankly, I think it goes without saying that it is wrong to try to explain such a characterization by putting it side by side, let alone associating it with a democratic system. In this respect, whatever we say at this point will not benefit the country.
However, both alliances and individual political parties need to review what happened before and after the elections, evaluate them, and try to determine where they have applied a wrong strategy. The choice we live in will not be the first or the last choice.
In fact, it seems that the local elections that should be held next year will be on the agenda on election night, and some political leaders have already invited their organizations to take action.
In this respect, since the main mechanism of the system in a democratic system is elections, if the lessons that can be learned from each election can be learned and some deficiencies can be evaluated, if it can be used for the future, some mistakes that are likely to be made in the future can be prevented.
At this point, the divisive and devaluing style that was persistently pursued in the election campaign should be abandoned, and embraced should be ensured.
If those who believe that a hug will be useless are still determined to maintain their style, it should not be forgotten that both the country and our people will suffer from this attitude. I think our people now see with certainty that the economic conditions of the country are getting worse.
For the last three days, people have not been able to withdraw their own money from banks, and an acquaintance of mine stated that yesterday morning, he went to the ATMs of 6 banks to withdraw money from his own account, but he could not withdraw money, and finally, when he wanted to try his luck at Ziraat Bank, he could withdraw a thousand liras.
I think the banks could not have agreed among themselves not to meet the needs of their customers.
In this respect, since that excuse has disappeared for those who used the election campaign as an excuse for a fight, politicians should first embrace and set a good example for the society. It should not be forgotten that if this is not done, if the exclusionary harsh style is still maintained, we will suffer as a society.
Because once our people feel uncomfortable with what has been done, they start to look at everything with suspicion. For example, in the market where I buy my newspapers every day, there was no newspaper on Saturday. When I asked why, I got the answer that they took it to the wrong place. But the job did not end there, when I went to the same market to buy my newspapers on election day, it was still not there. This time, I did not get an answer to my question. Finally, on the third day, yesterday, I was able to buy my newspapers from the same dealer.
My purpose of conveying these is that if the trust of the nation in its state is lost, it should be known that there will be no peace in that country. However, while there is a peaceful coexistence in this country, turning people against each other and making them distrustful for the sake of winning an election will not do any harm to those who do this job in the long run.
