On the occasion of the anniversary of the July 15 coup attempt, the media was reminded of what happened before, during and after the coup attempt. In a way, it was to refresh the knowledge and to complete the deficiencies. Even if it was a repetition of the known, the news was important in terms of refreshing the mind. Of course, it is not possible to convey all the evaluations made on this occasion. However, I would like to highlight some news in particular. Thus, I would like to emphasize that the distinction between friend and foe in the international arena should be made healthy. When it comes to the July 15 coup attempt, it should not be forgotten that the first country that comes to mind is the USA and some EU countries. In particular, the fact that the USA is no longer friendly to our country, as it was just yesterday, some administrators frequently emphasize that the USA is a friend and ally, which inevitably brings up a contradiction such as declaring the enemy a friend.
At this point, if you agree with yesterday's media, I would like to quote a few of the news. My first quote is the news in one of our newspapers under the headline “The CIA knew about the coup minute by minute”. The source of the news is Bekir Bozdag, Minister of Justice of the coup days. A few days ago, I had expressed a statement of Bozdag in my column under the heading "The main perpetrator of the coup is USA". Of course, it is quite natural that the intelligence agency of a country that is not only behind a coup attempt but also involved in various ways knows the event minute by minute. What is not natural is that such a country is still declared a friend and ally at every opportunity.
Another media information about the USA is that FETO ringleader Gülen has been requested 7 times from the USA and the USA has not taken any steps so far, despite the fact that sacks of documents have been sent. In a way, it should be emphasized that the 'say what you want, we read what we know' approach is exhibited.
By the way, in line with President Erdogan's assessment that "Our borders begin where the threat is," we can say that now that the USA poses a threat to our country, it is natural for our borders to extend beyond the Atlantic.
Again, we learn from the news reflected in the media that 1022 FETO members from 109 countries have been requested so far, and a total of 121 FETO members, 3 of whom have been extradited and 118 who have been deported, have been brought to Turkey. It was also mentioned in the news that the countries with the highest number of extradition requests are the USA and some EU countries. Accordingly, the extradition of 202 FETO members from the USA and 361 from the EU member states was requested. Within the EU member states, extradition requests were sent to Germany for 109 persons, to Greece for 89 persons, and to Belgium for 47 persons.
Is there a reason why our return requests are left unanswered? Even if there is, what is its place in international relations? Of course, their questions need to be answered. However, the important thing is that a group of people attempted a coup in our country, 250 civilians were killed, thousands were injured, and if the perpetrators of this incident were asked from the countries they fled with their documents, and a significant part of them has not been answered so far, the countries in question should not be declared friends from now on, especially Despite the persistent characterization of the United States as a friend and ally, and the EU member states that embrace not only FETO members but also members of various terrorist organizations, administrators must stop portraying the EU as a goal to be achieved in our society at every opportunity. Otherwise, it would be strange for the countries we declared friends to continue their hostilities.
