Yazgan stated that there is a need for a reform so that public servants, especially those with 4/B contracts, do not experience any loss in their tax-related salaries during the year, and said: "First of all, tax exemption should be introduced in the salaries of all public servants as much as the minimum wage."

Chairman of the ‘Büro Memur-Sen’ Yusuf Yazgan stated that they consider it important to increase the minimum wage by around 50 percent. “On the other hand, the fact that the lowest salary of civil servants has fallen below the minimum wage creates a negative impact on our civil servants, their morale and motivation. We demand that this grievance be eliminated by making an additional raise protocol. We maintain our belief and hope that our state, which is our employer, will take this into account,” Yazgan added.

NEEDS REFORM

A reform is needed to ensure that civil servants, especially those with 4/B contracts, do not experience any loss in their tax-related salaries during the year. Stating that there is a need for it, Yazgan said: “First of all, tax exemption should be introduced in the salaries of all civil servants as much as the minimum wage. If this is not possible, we demand that the annual 20 percent tax bracket of 24,000 income tax base be increased to at least 60,000 for 2022 and the 27 percent tax bracket be abolished for all payroll employees. Otherwise, the raise will be meaningless and civil servants will be crushed by high income taxes and high inflation.”
