After the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes, while all of Turkey mobilized to help the region, expats in Europe took action for the region.
The European Youth Association also supported the aid efforts in the region.
AGD Europe, which is involved in the aid activities carried out in the region by the Cansuyu Association, also made investigations in the region with its management.
While the effects and aftershocks of the earthquake, which was felt in the neighboring provinces of Kahramanmaraş and especially in Syria, the TRNC, Egypt, Lebanon, Iraq and Palestine, continued, many associations and NGOs mobilized to heal the wounds of the earthquake.
In addition to associations and NGOs serving in Turkey, it continues to support efforts to heal the wounds of nearly 15 million people affected by the earthquake through campaigns carried out in many countries of the world.
“WE SEE THE WORK DONE ON SITE”
Expressing that they will work diligently to close the wounds in the region, European Youth Association Vice President Mehmet Yurt stated that they visited the earthquake area.
"Since the first day of the earthquake, we have been working with all our strength to support and help this region. Starting from the search and rescue process, we have carried out many activities such as delivering aid to the place and supporting the work done in the region. At the weekend, we visited Maraş, Adıyaman, Hatay and Osmaniye, which were affected by the earthquake, with our vice presidents Mehdi Pertekli and Esat Ergener. We saw the effect of the earthquake and the work done on site. We have witnessed that people from all over the world are working hard to get our citizens under the rubble and to get the region back on its feet," he said.
“WE WILL SHOW OUR STRENGTH”
Drawing attention to the magnitude of the destruction in the region, Yurt stated that the destruction that occurred after the earthquake was the greatest destruction in the history of the republic.
"It is obvious that the work to be done here should be long-term. Many people from all over the world, especially the Cansuyu Association and the Anatolian Youth Association, continue to work in the field in order to do something. While some of them are cooking for our citizens affected by the earthquake, a citizen who comes from Kocaeli by jumping in his car sets up a tea house and provides hot tea service. We come across our brothers who come from neighboring provinces and work as hairdressers, play games, make cotton candy or put on a clown show so that our children, who are perhaps the most affected part of the earthquake, can have fun. Men and women, young and old, local or foreign, everyone is making an effort to heal the wounds. Our citizens affected by the earthquake should know that they are not alone. With this disaster, you lost your relatives, your houses and workplaces were destroyed, but know that we also felt what you felt in the deepest depths. We didn't sleep with you, we got cold with you, we cried with you. We will get through this process together and as the European Youth Association, we will do our best to heal the wounds," he added.
