At the end of four months, the employee and employer signed the Turkish Employers Association of Metal Industries (MESS) Group Collective Bargaining Agreement. In the negotiations, which have been continuing with disputes and actions since October and involving 130,000 metal workers, an agreement was reached at a rate of 27,44 percent for the first 6 months and 30 percent with inflation protection in the second 6 months.
65,67 PERCENT OF ANNUAL INCREASED
Sharing information about the details of the collective agreement they signed, Turkish Metal Union Chairman Pevrul Kavlak said, “The average annual salary of MESS has been increased by 65,67 percent. The explanation for this is as follows:
In the first 6 months, everyone's hourly wages were increased by 10 percent, and on top of that, 3 Turkish Liras (TL) and 70 kurus equally increase was taken. The equivalent of this is 27,44 percent.
In the second 6 months, everyone's hourly wage will be increased by 30 percent. This rate is inflation protected.
Social rights: 35 percent increase was achieved in the first year. Eid-al-Adha aid was increased by 75 percent for all groups for the first year.
A net of 400 TL food check for everyone, the first one this January, and the second in January 2023, a net supply check of 400 TL will be issued."
8 SESSIONS WERE HELD DURING THE INTERVIEWS
Since the first meetings were held on October 12, 2021, 8 meetings were held between worker and employer unions. Due to the first offer of a 12 percent increase, the employer's union MESS, a report of the dispute was kept and the process was referred to mediation. Thereupon, with the metal workers' actions, MESS revised its offer for a raise. In the last meeting, an agreement was reached at a rate of 27 percent.
