Crop production decreased by 5.8 percent in cereals and other vegetable products compared to last year, while vegetables decreased by 0.8 percent in fruits and beverage and spice plants. In the same period the most important item 7 percent of the agricultural production of wheat, 9.4 percent hike champion of the last days of onions, nuts showed a decrease of 23.7 percent and 70 percent of world production is done in Turkey.
Turkey Statistical Institute has announced the statistics on crop production this year. Cereal crop production amounted to 34.4 million tons with a decrease of 4.8 percent. ulaf production increased by 4 percent to 260 thousand tons. Among the important products of the vegetables group, leeks increased by 21.5 percent, carob 12.9 percent, gum squash 5.6 percent, dry onion 9.4 percent, tomatoes 4.7 percent, melon fell 3.3 percent.
Turkey Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has announced the statistics on crop production this year. Production amounts decreased by 5.8 percent in cereals and other plant products compared to the previous year and 2.6 percent in vegetables and 0.8 percent in fruits, beverages and spice plants.
In 2018, production amounts were approximately 64.4 million tons in cereals and other vegetable products, 30 million tons in vegetables and 22.3 million tons in fruits and beverage plants.
Cereal crop production amounted to 34.4 million tons with a decrease of 4.8 percent. In the mentioned period, wheat production decreased by 7 percent, 20 million tons, barley production decreased by 1.4 percent and 7 million tons, rye production did not change by 320 thousand tons, oat production increased by 4 percent to 260 thousand tons.
Among the important products of the legumes, the production of edible pods decreased by 13.8 percent to 5.9 thousand tons, red lentils decreased by 22.5 percent to 310 thousand tons, tubers from potatoes decreased by 5.2 percent to about 4.6 million tons.
When the production quantities of vegetable sub-groups were examined, the amount of tuber and root vegetables decreased by 2.5 percent and the vegetables grown for fruit decreased by 2.9 percent, while the other vegetables were not classified elsewhere by 1.4 percent. Among the important products of the vegetables group, leeks increased by 21.5 percent, carob 12.9 percent, gum squash 5.6 percent, dry onion 9.4 percent, tomatoes 4.7 percent, melon fell 3.3 percent. According to the previous year, apples, 19.6 percent, pomegranate 7 percent, strawberries increased by 10.2 percent, apricots decreased by 23.9 percent and grapes decreased by 6.4 percent. Among the citrus fruits, mandarin rose by 6.4 percent, while nuts from hard-shelled fruits decreased by 23.7 percent. Mulberry production decreased by 10.4 percent and banana rose by 35.2 percent.
