Commenting on Republican People’s Party (CHP) Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's statement on the headscarf, Davutoğlu said that the issue was not on the agenda at the Six Tables.
Stating that Kılıçdaroğlu made such a statement at his own discretion, Davutoğlu said, “Such issues, including the headscarf, the concerns of conservative voters and the manipulation of the government were discussed at the table. But there was no meeting before Kılıçdaroğlu's statement, the timing of Kılıçdaroğlu's statement is at his own discretion.”
“NOW WE ARE AT A CRITICAL THRESHOLD”
Davutoğlu said, “We are now at a critical threshold. Either we will overcome these fault lines and we will not leave them to the next generation, or we will deepen and transfer these pains to future generations. Table of Six has a text of basic principles. Some channels even comment on the way we sit. But they don't look at our explanations, they are probably reading-impaired. There was no such table in the past, I wish there was, I wish Erdogan had done this. Those who have already read the text of Six Tables were not surprised by Kılıçdaroğlu's statement. It is in line with our policy.”
Expressing that, as Six Tables, serious progress has been made in the process of transition to the strengthened parliamentary system, Ahmet Davutoğlu said, “The path we have taken in 7-8 months is clear. An environment of trust has been created. Differences of opinion arise, they are discussed. After all, we are different parties. But the most important thing is that there is an environment where they can discuss them and the vision that can produce solutions. A climate is formed at the table, that climate there affects all of us. We all know each other and learn from each other.”
