It is stated that President Erdogan aims to divide the opposition united around the aim of the Strengthened Parliamentary System on the one hand, and to prevent the discussion of the livelihood of the citizens on the other.

At the time when Turkey was talking about hikes and the cost of living, President Erdoğan changed the agenda suddenly by making the "New Constitution" statement!

Erdogan accused the opposition of blocking previous Constitutional work in his statement, but going back a little bit reveals that the truth is completely different. When the archives are slightly mixed up, it is understood that in both the new Constitution studies conducted in 2011 and 2016, the "Constitution Reconciliation Table" was overthrown at the request of the AKP side. It is estimated that the "new Constitution", which Erdogan brought back to the agenda the previous day, is aimed at changing the agenda rather than making a Constitution.

NEW AGENDA: NEW CONSTITUTION!

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that a new Constitution debate should begin after the Cabinet Meeting of the previous day and said "If we come to an agreement with our partner in the People's Alliance, we can take action for the new Constitution".

Erdogan's "New Constitution" statement that he made incessantly brought the previous "Constitution" studies to the agenda. While Erdogan pointed out that previous studies were blocked by the CHP in his statement, it is seen that what happened in that period was very different. While the studies on the new Constitution have been handled two more times in the last decade, it is remarkable that the Power that leaves the table each time. The New Constitution study, the first of which was carried out in 2011 and worked on for 25 months, ended the duty of the Constitution Reconciliation Commission due to the fact that the AKP members did not participate in the meeting three times without any excuse. At that time, AKP members did not attend the Constitution Reconciliation Commission meeting on 19 November, 25 November and 25 December 2013 without giving an excuse, while members of the CHP, MHP and BDP of the Commission were present."

AIM TO CHANGE AGENDA

President Erdogan's "New Constitution" decision made the previous day due to the AKP's overthrow of the previous tables was interpreted by political scientists as "changing the agenda". It is claimed that the frequent discussion of problems such as increasing food prices, hikes and unemployment in the recent years led the AKP to change the agenda. On the other hand, it is also stated that Erdogan made a "New Constitution" to divide the opposition united around the aim of the Strengthened Parliamentary.
