Eğitim-Bir-Sen Union’s 17th Turkey Meeting was held in Antalya with the participation of branch administrations, district representatives and women's commissions. Eğitim-Bir-Sen Union and Memur-Sen Confederation Chairman Ali Yalçın made important evaluations about 3600 additional indicators, the decrease in purchasing power, and the Teaching Profession Law. Yalçın stated that they have achieved many gains, especially 3600 additional indicators, and said, “We are the ones who will provide the solution to the existing problems. While others talk about the problems, we solved the problems one by one, and we continue to solve them. We are the architects of 3600 additional indicators, which obtained the right to collective bargaining, enabled steps to be taken for the Law on the Teaching Profession despite its shortcomings, and expanded the framework of 600 thousand in specialist teaching and head teachers. We are the ones who ensured that the contracted people are recruited, provided paying additional wages for the watch duty, increasing the additional payments of teachers and teaching staff, continuing to pay the development allowance, providing wages to the members of the jury, paying teachers an additional two hours of tuition a week, having a union representative in the university disciplinary committees, make the organization meaningful and make a profit for the members, with the collective bargaining bonus.”

“THAT GIVEN WITH A SPOON, SHOULD NOT TO BE TAKEN WITH A SCOOP”

Stating that the purchasing power of the citizens has decreased, Yalçın said, “The purchasing power of public servants should be increased. House rents are expensive. There are raises equal to the smallest increase. Even the news of a wage increase is the reason for the increase. The market should be brought under control, unfair profits and monopolization should be prevented, economic stability should be ensured, fixed incomes and public servants should be protected against inflation. We said it before, we say it again today. The best raise for the civil servant is low inflation and market stability. Any raise without the purchasing power is not a raise. In this inflationary environment, increases that are made every six months expire within three months. We have already explained the formula to prevent this. We said that the mobile system should be implemented, the welfare share should be increased in addition to the salary increase and inflation difference payment arising from the collective agreement in January, the income tax should be fixed at 15 percent, and what is given with a spoon should not be taken with a scoop.”
