"Do not discriminate" warning came from Eğitim-Bir-Sen Union regarding the decision of the Ministry of National Education (MEB) to reduce 50 percent in teachers' homes. The union demanded that all education workers benefit from these rights.

Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer announced the other day that teachers will stay in teacher's houses with a 50 percent discount. Eğitim-Bir-Sen Union, on the other hand, applied to the Ministry of National Education regarding the issue and demanded that all education employees be given a 50 percent discount in accommodation services offered in teachers' houses and that the current capacity be used primarily for education employees who need accommodation.

“50 PERCENT DISCOUNT SHOULD COVER ALL EDUCATION EMPLOYEES AND REGULATIONS SHOULD BE MADE”

In the statement reminding the article that all education employees have the priority right to use teachers' houses in the regulation on teachers' houses, “All education employees will be given a 50 percent discount in accommodation services offered in teachers' houses and by the end of 2023, it is essential to make arrangements to use the existing capacity primarily for the education workers who need accommodation,” the statement said.

“RIGHT TO EQUAL TREATMENT MUST NOT BE FORGOTTEN”

Egitim-Bir-Sen Union, who published a written statement on the subject, pointed out that the decision taken was appropriate but not sufficient, and said, “The need to benefit from the said accommodation service under discounted and advantageous conditions is not only valid for teachers, but also for other employees of the ministry. Education employees work together in cooperation for the healthy and qualified conduct of education and training activities, regardless of service class discrimination; In this context, it should not be forgotten that the Ministry has the right to be treated equally in equal situations and statuses."
