The Israeli regime, which occupies the Palestinian lands, is persecuting Palestinians regardless of gender and age. One of the people persecuted by the invading Israeli regime is Aman Nafa. Nafa's husband, Nail Barghouti, who spent 10 years in Israeli dungeons, is still in prison. Aman Nafa, who told our newspaper about the experiences of Barghouti who has been in Israeli prisons for 43 years, and herself, uses heartbreaking expressions.
“THEY TURN ON THE AIR CONDITIONER HOT IN HOT WEATHER AND COLD AIR CONDITIONER IN COLD WEATHER”
Former Palestinian prisoner Aman Nafa said, “I stayed in Israeli dungeons for 10 years. I went to prison in 1987 and came out in 1997. We stayed in the same dungeon with my mother. My mother was very ill, she lost consciousness. It was a very difficult process.”
Stating that many women like her are still in Israeli dungeons, Nafa said, “Women are treated like men. They raid a house, arrest their mother in front of children. During the raid, they suddenly enter the bedroom. They have dogs in their hands. They also use violence against captive women. They're imprisoned in a room, a dirty room. You cannot distinguish morning from evening. They put a foul-smelling bag on the women's heads. In hot weather, they turn on the air conditioner hot, and when the weather is cold, they turn on the air conditioner at the cold setting. They threaten people with their families.”
“CHILDREN WERE CONTINUOUSLY CRYING”
Noting that there are child captives in Israeli dungeons, Nafa also touches on the drama these children go through. Regarding the subject, Nafa said, “There are prisoners who became martyrs. There are seriously ill people in Israeli dungeons, there are also children born there. The dungeon where I stayed was next to the dungeon where the children were. They were crying all the time, I could hear these voices.” On the other hand, Nafa states that female captives cannot see their children because Israel does not allow visits.
“BARGHOUTI HAS BEEN IMPRISONED FOR MORE THAN 40 YEARS”
Palestinian ex-captive Aman Nafa, also makes remarkable remarks about her husband, Nail Barghouti, who is currently in prison. Noting that Barghouti was imprisoned for more than 40 years, Nafa said, “My husband was imprisoned for the first time in 1978. He was freed in 2011 with a prisoner swap deal, but was later arrested again. He is still in Israeli dungeons since 2014. My husband was liberated in 2011 and married me shortly after. We lived together in a process that I can only describe in days. Along with my husband, 70 other people were arrested. They said they would keep Nail in detention for a short time, but my husband has been in prison since then.”
NAFA CALLED PRESIDENT RECEP TAYYIP ERDOĞAN
Aman Nafa, who wants her husband Nail Barhouti to get out of prison and return home as soon as possible, also calls on the Turkish government. Addressing President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Nafa said, “I want Nail to be free and return home. I want Turkey to put pressure on Israel. If pressure can be put on Israel, our prisoners can be freed.” Stating that her husband is currently 65 years old, Nafa said, “Nail was in prison for 42 years in total. He was 18 when he first went to prison. During his time in prison, he was able to see his family once. When Nail got out of prison, his parents were dead. Nail is now 65 years old.”
