Tarık Sezai Karatepe, the literature teacher, who was exposed to the counter movement of the remnants of February 28 with a newspaper headline while trying to educate his students in accordance with national and spiritual values, has been continuing his legal struggle for the past 15 years after the event known as ‘Sincan Messages’ in the public. Karatepe, who gained the right to return to duty with a court decision, is now waiting for the Ministry of National Education to give his right.
On September 18, 2006, a lynching campaign was launched against the literature teacher Tarık Sezai Karatepe, who only wanted to educate his students in accordance with national and moral values, with the headline of ‘reactionaryism’ by Hürriyet. Then, he was placed on the target board with Hürriyet newspaper's editor-in-chief Oktay Ekşi's ‘Head and Shave’ writing. After the events, the teacher was supported by writing news in many newspapers in which his grievances were expressed. However, after a 15-year period, the right to return to duty was restored by court decision. Karatepe expects the Ministry of National Education (MEB) to abide by the decision and put an end to its grievances.
THE DEFICIENT INVESTIGATION CARRIED OUT, IS PENALIZED
In addition to all kinds of oppression, Karatepe was sentenced to 8 months in prison in 2015, when the decision of the Ministry of Justice General Directorate of Criminal Affairs was not taken into account, and the decision to "Compromise in the Benefit of the Law" was not taken into account. In that process, the witnesses whose names Karatepe mentioned were not heard, and an incomplete investigation was carried out. Karatepe, who was expelled from the teaching profession, applied to the MEB to return to teaching with the decision that "Restitution of Divested Rights and Deprivation of Rights Have Been Eliminated" years later.
JUDGES AND PROSECUTORS TOOK PENALTY FROM FETO
In the ongoing legal struggle of Karatepe, the Public Prosecutor, who caused him to be imprisoned and taking imprison penalty, and the members of the Court of Cassation, who ignored the decision of "Appeal for the sake of the Law", as a result of the operations started after the treacherous coup attempt of 15 July, it was determined that they were connected with the Fetullahist Terrorist Organization (FETO) and it was revealed that they were people who were sentenced to prison. While applying for a retrial, Karatepe stated that a retrial is necessary instead of an unfair trial.
“MEB DID NOT CARRY OUT MY BACK DUTY DESPITE THE DECISION”
Karatepe stated that as a result of the trials, a decision was made to return restitution of divested rights, noting that the Ministry of National Education did not comply with the decision, although there was a similar decision in the past, and said, “With the decision to return the restitution of divested rights, the rights lost by the civil servant should be returned. Although a precedent decision is made in the past and also submitted this decision to the MEB, contrary to this decision, the MEB has not yet reinstated me. In this process, which lasted from 2006 to 2022, my grievance continues.”
