While the Algerian government is following a stable line in support of Palestine, which is one of the main axes of its foreign policy, Algerian President Abdulmajid Tabbun once again instilled hope in the Palestinian struggle with his latest statements.
Algeria's stance against normalization with Israel and its unconditional support to the Palestinian resistance are appreciated in a process where many Islamic countries, including Turkey, are in a race for normalization with the Zionist regime.
“WE DO NOT TOLERATE THE EXPLOITATION OF PALESTINE”
Algerian President Abdulmajid Tabbun made evaluations about many issues of his country at the meeting held with the governors in the capital, Algeria. Tebbun, who gave a special place to the Palestinian issue in his speech, drew attention to the fact that Algerians see the Palestinian cause as their national cause.
"Algeria never accepts colonialism with its state and people, we are a society that has fought against the colonialists and paid the price in this struggle. We gave caravans of martyrs in the fight against the colonialists. We do not accept the existence of the colonialists in Palestine, even if they have the most powerful weapons in the world. We cannot accept the colonization of a country like Palestine, we will fight colonialism wherever it may be. Palestine belongs only to the Palestinians, not to any other community. Every young and old citizen in Algeria loves the Palestinian struggle and takes ownership of the Palestinian struggle," Tabbun said.
“ALGERIA IS TRYING TO RECONCILIATE PALESTINIAN GROUPS”
Algerian President Abdulmajid Tabbun hosted Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in his country on December 6, 2021. Tebbun, in a statement regarding the meeting, announced that they decided to host a comprehensive symposium for Palestinian groups. Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas and HAMAS Leader Ismael Haniyah met for the first time in many years on May 7 in Algeria. Lastly, Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtiyya met with Algerian Prime Minister Ayman bin Abdurrahman on the occasion of the opening of the International Olympics held in Konya on 10 August and held a special meeting on the issue of reconciliation in Palestine.
PREPARATIONS CONTINUE FOR THE ARAB SUMMIT IN PALESTINE AGENDA
Algeria, an Islamic country with a population of 43.8, which has made remarkable moves on international platforms in recent years, continues its preparations for the Arab League Summit, which it will host on November 1-2. While it is stated that the leaders of Palestine, Jordan, Egypt, Qatar, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Kuwait, Oman, Mauritania, Bahrain and Libya will definitely attend the summit, the number of participating countries is expected to increase even more until the summit day. While the Algerian government aims to unite and unite all Arab countries to support the Palestinian cause with this summit it will organize, the self-interested foreign policies of Arab countries that have signed normalization agreements with Israel in the face of certain interests prevent Algeria from fully realizing this goal.
AN EXAMPLE STATUS FOR THE ISLAMIC WORLD
The cruel Israeli regime, which ruthlessly usurped Palestinian lands, has brought many Islamic countries to the negotiation table in return for some benefits in recent years. The fact that Israel, which signed normalization agreements with the United Arab Emirates, Sudan, Morocco and Bahrain in 2020, has taken its relations with Turkey to the highest levels in the last year is also met with reaction from its Palestinian friends. While the Israeli regime, which has imposed a diplomatic siege to the Islamic world with its normalization agreements, aims to neutralize the Palestinian resistance, the stable attitude of a densely populated and developing Islamic country like Algeria against the Israeli regime sets an exemplary stance for Islamic countries.
ALGERIA PEOPLE AND CIVIL SOCIETY ARE ALSO WITH PALESTINE
The pro-Palestinian stance of the political powers in Algeria is also greatly supported by the Algerian people and non-governmental organizations in the country. The recent signing of normalization agreements by Morocco, which borders Algeria, and some Arab countries with Israel, was met with a great wave of protest by Algerian Muslims.
Abdurrazzaq Qasum, President of the Algerian Muslim Scholars Union, said, "Any normalization with Israel is a betrayal of Allah, His Prophet and believers."
However, last week, the Algerian Judges' Union announced that they would not attend the International Association of Judges (IAJ) meeting held in Tal Aviv between 18-22 September in order to refuse normalization with Israel and in solidarity with the Palestinian cause.
