Annual inflation reaches the peak of the last 26 months

Turkey has been struggling with fires that have destroyed both forests and our lungs since last week.

On the other hand, the inflation figures announced showed that the fire in the pocket of the citizen and in the kitchen was also heating up. Inflation, which did not slow down even in the summer period, increased by 1.8 percent on a monthly basis; Annual inflation, which was 17.53 percent in June, rose to 18.95 percent in July. While food inflation was 24.92 percent, the fire in our pockets destroyed our income!
 
According to the data of the Turkish Statistical Institute, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 1.8 percent and the Domestic Producer Price Index (D-PPI) increased by 2.46 percent on a monthly basis in July. Annual inflation was 18.95 percent in consumer prices and 44.92 percent in domestic producer prices. The average of July inflation expectations of economists participating in the AA Finans Inflation Expectation Survey was 1.62 percent. According to this average, annual inflation, which was 17.53 percent in the previous month, was calculated to rise to 18.74 percent.
 

FOOD INFLATION INCREASED TO 25 PERCENT

 
In terms of main expenditure groups, the groups with the highest monthly increase in July were housing with 5.07%, food and non-alcoholic beverages with 2.77 percent, restaurants and hotels with 2.72 percent, respectively. The groups that showed a monthly decrease in July were recorded as clothing and shoes with 2.13 percent and household goods with 0.06 percent. In the main expenditure groups in the CPI, the highest annual increase in July was seen in food and non-alcoholic beverages with 24.92 percent. This was followed by transportation with 24.62 percent and household goods with 22.7 percent.

The average of July inflation expectations of economists participating in the AA Finans Inflation Expectation Survey was 1.62 percent. According to this average, annual inflation, which was 17.53 percent in the previous month, was calculated to rise to 18.74 percent.
 

JULY'S HIGH CHAMPION "DOMESTIC TOURS"

 
On the basis of consumer prices, the highest price increase in July was seen in domestic tours with a duration of one week or more, with 29.42 percent. According to TUIK data, last month, the price increase in domestic tours was followed by cucumbers with 19.63 percent and onions with 18.33 percent. Other products with the highest price increase in July included apricots with 16.12 percent, electricity fees with 15.01 percent, and lemons with 14.72 percent. Last month, the highest price decrease was in eggplant with 9.25 percent. It was followed by cherries with 8.32 percent, zucchini with 7.5 percent, green beans with 7.25 percent and bell pepper with 6.15 percent.
