In the report prepared under the title of "UGSAM researches" prepared by the International Youth Strategy Research Center (UGSAM) working within the Foreign Relations Commission of the Anatolian Youth Association (AGD), it was stated that Muslims in India were exposed to excessive discrimination while addressing the problems of Muslims in India. In the report, which stated that around 200 million Muslims live in India, it was emphasized that 15 percent of the total population in India is Muslim and the country's largest minority group is Muslims.
In the report, it was emphasized that Muslims are subjected to discrimination in their needs such as education, employment and housing, while according to a study conducted in 2019, it was stated that half of the policemen showed anti-Islamic prejudices and that members of the judiciary were inclined to go unpunished for attacks on Muslims.
THE GOVERNMENT DOES NOT EYE ANTI-MUSLIM ACTIVITIES
The report underlined that anti-Muslim movements got stronger with the Hindu nationalist BJP and Modi coming back to power in the 2019 elections held in India, "The government takes decisions that openly ignore Muslim rights. In 2019, the autonomy of the state of Jammu-Kashmir, which was seen as the only Muslim-majority state in India, was abolished, internet and mobile service access in the region was closed for months and many people were arrested. Likewise, as a result of the Hindu attack carried out during the protest of an anti-Muslim law enacted in Delhi in 2020, around 50 people, most of them Muslims, died, and it was reported that the police did not intervene in the incident. Since it is known that these are not the only criminal record of Modi on the subject, anxiety and distrust in the Muslim population has increased rapidly in the recent period," it was said.
