Higher Education Institution (YÖK) shared its new statistics in higher education with the public.
According to the 2022-2023 Academic Year Higher Education Statistics, it was stated that there are 6 million 950 thousand 142 students and 184 thousand 566 academic staff in 208 higher education institutions in Turkey. It was noted that most of the students were in state universities.
MORE THAN 1 MILLION 620 THOUSAND NEW REGISTRATIONS
Of the 6 million 950 thousand 142 students in total, 6 million 204 thousand 78 continue to study at state universities, 735 thousand 433 at foundation universities and 10 thousand 631 at foundation vocational schools.
It was noted that in the 2022-2023 academic year, 1 million 846 thousand 654 new enrollments were registered at universities.
It was recorded that 1 million 620 thousand 688 of the newly registered students were enrolled in state universities, 221 thousand 494 in foundation universities and 4 thousand 472 in foundation vocational schools.
773 THOUSAND STUDENTS GRADUATED FROM STATE UNIVERSITIES
According to the data, a total of 903,673 students graduated from higher education institutions in the 2022-2023 academic year.
It was recorded that 773 thousand 325 of the graduates graduated from state universities, 127 thousand 957 from foundation universities, 2 thousand 391 from foundation vocational schools.
THERE ARE 34,280 PROFESSORS IN HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS
The number of lecturers at universities was also included in the data.
In the 2022-2023 academic year, 154 thousand 981 of a total of 184 thousand 566 instructors were in state universities, 29 thousand 338 in foundation universities and 247 in foundation vocational schools.
Of the existing 184 thousand 566 faculty members, 34 thousand 280 are professors, 22 thousand 462 associate professors, 44 thousand 216 doctor lecturers, 37 thousand 39 lecturers and 46 thousand 569 of them were working as research assistants.
