Mahmut Arslan, Chairman of Hak-İş Confederation, made a written statement on the occasion of the World Disabled Week. In his statement, Arslan noted that the employment participation of people with disabilities should be increased and encouraged.
ARSLAN: “THE QUOTA PROBLEM SHOULD BE SOLVED”
Underlining that the labor force participation rate of the disabled is 22,1 percent, Arslan said, “As Hak-İş Confederation, we welcome the increase in the employment of the disabled in the last 20 years. However, despite all the regulations and practices in our country, the quota deficit problem, which is one of the important problems in employment, still continues. As Hak-İş Confederation, our priority and request is to first solve the current quota problem, to recruit more disabled people and to show a strong will of employers in this regard.”
ARSLAN: “WE INVITE DISABLED EMPLOYEES TO THE UNION MOVEMENT”
Emphasizing that the union movement, which is the protector of employees, is even more important for disabled employees, Arslan made the following call:
“As Hak-İş Confederation, we produce together with disabled individuals in working life and union life. We want to emphasize that there is no disability in labor. We invite all disabled people to be involved in working life, to be unionized and to be members of Hak-İş Confederation.”
