The 'Employment Monitoring Bulletin August 2022' prepared by the Economic Policy Research Foundation of Turkey (TEPAV) has been published. In the bulletin, it was pointed out that employment increased in August, while on the other hand, it was underlined that the number of people waiting for unemployment benefits reached 141,000. 
 
Remarkable data were included in the 'Employment Monitoring Bulletin August 2022' prepared by the Economic Policy Research Foundation of Turkey (TEPAV). While it was stated in the bulletin compiled through the data of the Social Security Institution (SGK) and TEPAV that there was an increase in employment data, the increase in employment, as well as the increase in the number of applications for unemployment benefits and those waiting for the allowance to be issued, drew attention. 
 

THE DECREASE IN FARMERS CONTINUES, WHILE TRADES HAVE INCREASED THE MOST OVER THE YEAR 

 
In the bulletin, which draws attention to the fact that August 2022 data of insured employees of Social Security Institution (SGK), are shared with the public, stated that the employment increase, which decelerated as of April 2021, starts to increase in August. It was noted that the highest employment rate of the year was achieved. In the bulletin, “According to SGK data, the insured wage-earner group, which constitutes 73,1 percent of the total insured employees, increased by 6,6 percent, means 1 million 56 thousand, annually. On the other hand, although the change in the artisan-farmer group is towards an increase of 2,2 percent, the trends differ in the lower classes. In this period, the number of tradesmen increased by 5,1 percent, or 125 thousand, and the number of farmers decreased by 11,2 percent, or 60 thousand. It is observed that the long-standing downward trend in the number of farmers maintained its pace as of August, and although tradesmen were the working class with the highest employment increase throughout the year, annual increases lagged behind the previous year. The increase in the number of insured employees in the public sector is limited to 2,7 percent,” the bulletin said. 
 

3 MAIN SECTORS LEAD THE MANUFACTURING 

 
In August, most of the insured employees were employed in 3 main sectors. It was stated in the bulletin that 3 main sectors are manufacturing, wholesale and retail trade and construction. It was stated that the sectors continued to increase. In the bulletin, which draws attention to the fact that the service sector is partially alive, the leading areas in the service sector are information and communication, accommodation and food service, public administration and defense; It was stated that there was an annual increase in employment in compulsory social security, culture, art, entertainment, recreation and sports activities.
 

UNEMPLOYMENT APPLICATIONS INCREASED AFTER THE “KÇÖ” ENDED 

 
In the bulletin, which draws attention to the fact that the applications for unemployment benefits increased significantly in August compared to the previous month and with the cancellation of the Short Working Allowance (KÇÖ), the bulletin states that “After the termination of the application of the KÇÖ, the applications for unemployment benefit increased from 104 thousand 463 to 231 thousand 867 in this period, beneficiaries increased from 27 thousand 443 to 128 thousand 823, and as of August 2022, the number of those waiting for unemployment benefits is 140 thousand 893, the number of beneficiaries is 67 thousand 677. In August 2022, the number of applicants for unemployment benefits increased by 8,368 on a monthly basis, and by 5,262 in those receiving allowances,” the bulletin added.
