Assistant physicians discriminated!

While the information on duty and additional payment of assistant physicians is only put into practice in hospitals affiliated to the ministry, this practice is not included in the regulation in university hospitals for now.

It was the 3rd in the series of scandals in the Additional Payment Regulation, which was published in the Official Gazette on August 12 within the scope of the ‘White Reform’ by the Ministry of Health. The regulation, which ignores the labor of nurses and paves the way for the decrease in the retirement wages of health workers, also made a distinction between assistant physicians.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FEES DOUBLED

With the regulation that came into force, only assistant doctors working in training and research hospitals can benefit from the additional payment. Assistant physicians working in university hospitals affiliated to Council of Higher Education (YÖK) were excluded from the scope. As a result of this discrimination caused by the regulation, the wage gap between the assistant doctors working in training and research hospitals and the assistant doctors in university hospitals doing the same job doubled.

IF DISCRIMINATION DOES NOT END, ASSISTANT DOCTORS WILL LEAVE WORK

As a result of the objections regarding the discrimination caused by the regulation, YÖK started a study on the subject, but there is still no development. Turkish Medical Association (TTB) Central Council Member Ahmet Karer Yurtdaş stated that this separation has to be eliminated until September 15, otherwise the assistant physicians have decided to quit their job. Expressing that such a regulation that disrupts the labor peace is unacceptable, Yurtdaş once again called for demands for equal pay for equal work.
