In a statement on behalf of the Board of Directors, Association of Religious Officials (DIN-BIR-DER) Chairman Muhittin Yıldırım reacted with harsh sentences to the "medieval statement" of main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) Group Deputy Chairman Özgür Özel.

Yıldırım stated that trying to defame the religious education given to the children of citizens with terms such as 'unscientific' and 'outdated' is an expression of the hatred in the hearts of those who miss the darkness of the Middle Ages, and said, "The religion of Islam, which is the first command to humanity to 'read!', from the first moment its message and the social order it envisages; It enlightened the ages and societies and built a civilization that will guide humanity until the end of the world. This ancient civilization, which has never been dark, has experienced periods that will be the pride of humanity even when the West was drowned in the dark corridors of ignorance."

"THE PROHIBITOR 'FEBRUARY 28' MENTALITY STILL ALIVE"

"On the basis of this success, it is obligatory for all Muslims, men and women, old and young, to learn science; The science of 'from the cradle to the grave' is contained in the Qur'an and the Prophet's orders, which recommend learning, teaching and education. To slander the religious education given to the sons of the wishful citizens of this country for years with terms such as "unscientific" and "outdated" in order to fulfill these orders is an expression of the hatred in the hearts of those who miss the darkness of the Middle Ages; It is an indication that the prohibitive February 28 mentality is still alive and well. Everyone should know that; Islam is the essence of these lands and the leaven of our nation. Those who abuse it to use it for their political purposes and those who attack the learning of the life-giving values of Islam should know that they will be disappointed. As the Union of Religious Officials Association, we support the continuation of this important activity of the Presidency of Religious Affairs and strongly condemn the attacks on Islam and these courses. 4-6 years old Qur'an Courses should be made more widespread and necessary legal arrangements should be made immediately," he added.

“There are those who still haven't realized the sensitivities of our nation”

Felicity (Saadet) Party Spokesperson, Birol Aydın, reacted to the "medieval mentality" analogy of CHP Group Deputy Chairman Özgür Özel regarding the 4-6 age-old Qur'an courses initiated by the Presidency of Religious Affairs.

In the written statement made by Aydın, it was pointed out that there are still people who have not realized the sensitivities of our nation.

"WE STRONGLY AGAINST IT"

In the statement, which stated that it has been sadly witnessed that national and spiritual values have been used in daily politics in recent years, "On the one hand, there are those who try to cover up all their mistakes by exploiting our values, and on the other hand, there are those who still have not grasped the sensitivities of our nation despite all this experience. As Saadet Party, we object to both distorted understandings and strongly oppose them! As a country and as a nation, we have suffered enough and still suffer the consequences of such brutal use of concepts, names, and the most sensitive issues and their being used in daily politics," it was said.

POLITICIANS MUST AVOID THESE TYPE OF RHETORICS

"We reiterate our call to abandon the actions and rhetoric that try to cover up the truth, and to show maximum effort and sensitivity to the style of the leaders of the society, especially the politicians," the statement added.
