On the night of Laylat al-raghaib, the reaction to HDP Deputy Oya Ersoy, who spoke out against Islam and the Ottoman Empire in the General Assembly of the Grand National Assembly, grew like an avalanche. When she wanted to criticize the government, she insulted both the religion of Islam and the ancestral Ottomans. Many non-governmental organizations, especially the deputies in the Parliament, condemned Ersoy with their statements.
Reactions to HDP Istanbul Deputy Oya Ersoy's statements in the General Assembly of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, which amounted to insulting Islam and the Ottoman Empire, grew. Ersoy, who could not slow down in his speech criticizing the government, said, “Do you know why we call you reactionary? Because you are trying to resurrect the Ottoman Empire, which was 500 years behind, and the religion-based social order that was 1500 years behind. We women have learned that we can be free and we have no intention of going back 500 years or 1500 years. You can't take it away," and her speech against Islam and the Ottoman Empire drew a reaction.
YILDIRIM: “WE NEVER ACCEPT”
Muhittin Hamdi Yıldırım, President of the Union of Religious Officials (DİN-BİR-DER), condemning the statements without measures, said, "We do not accept that a deputy insults the values of faith in front of the people’s eyes in the rostrum of the Parliament in this way. This is exactly the same mentality of ignorance which considered it a civilization to circumambulate the Kaaba in a naked way, as the religion of Islam 1,500 years ago came to our Prophet (as) in Mecca. The way our Prophet showed is never the way shown by the system of ignorance. These are deceived modern ignorant people.”

Salih Turhan, Chairman of Anatolian Youth Association (AGD) and National Youth Foundation (MGV), reacted to HDP Deputy Ersoy with the following words in his statement on social media: “We don't accept the mentality that insults our faith and ancestors in Nation’s Parliament. True freedom is in Islam.”

Making fun of religious values and holy ones, insulting them is neither artistic activity nor freedom of thought. This is clearly enmity towards Islam, the Prophet (as) and the sacred.
