The helicopter carrying the Chairman of the Great Unity Party (BBP), Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu, crashed on March 25, 2009 within the borders of Kahramanmaraş. In addition to Yazıcıoğlu, including journalist İsmail Güneş, BBP Sivas Provincial President Erhan Üstündağ, Provincial Vice President Yüksel Yancı, Municipal Council Member Murat Çetinkaya and pilot Kaya İstektepe, the wreckage of the helicopter was found days after the accident. The dark curtain on the crash has still not been illuminated despite the past 14 years.

“WE THINK IT WAS ASSASSINATION”

While the suspicion of assassination regarding the event in which the deceased Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu and his friends lost their lives was discussed from the first day, an important event took place at the point reached. Accordingly, it was decided to re-examine the blood samples belonging to Yazıcıoğlu by the 5th Forensic Medicine Specialization Board of the Forensic Medicine Institute in Istanbul. Mehmet Cemal Erkoç, one of the lawyers of the case, who spoke to our newspaper on the subject, made important words. Regarding the subject, Erkoç said, “The late President Muhsin and other people have more carbon monoxide than normal in their blood sample. Information on why this carbon monoxide was released in the blood was insufficient. No response was given to requests for this. Then there is an ongoing case in the Supreme Court regarding this. In the opinion of the Chief Prosecutor of the Supreme Court, who was in that case, this situation was also criticized. Why is this carbon monoxide so high? We requested a re-examination on this matter. In the end, the prosecutor's office accepted our request.”

“CARBONMONOXIDE AT THE LEVEL THAT WILL HOCUS A CONSCIOUS INDIVIDUAL”

Atty. Mehmet Cemal Erkoç, in his statement to the Milli Gazete, also noted that they have an assassination suspicion regarding the incident. Erkoç said, “We evaluate the issue here as follows; We believe that Muhsin President's helicopter was shot down as a result of assassination. There are cases of negligence and misconduct of duty in the events after the helicopter crash. And we think the evidence has been destroyed. We think this review also will justify our thoughts.” On the other hand, an expert who made a statement to our newspaper but did not want his name to be disclosed said, “The carbon monoxide in the blood of the helicopter pilot is at a level that would stun a conscious individual. Obviously there was a poisoning incident. The presence of carbon monoxide is also indisputably stable.”
