A program was organized by the Turkish Veterinary Medical Association (TVHB) on the occasion of World Veterinary Doctors Day. In the program, it was noted that while the professional problems of veterinarians were on the agenda, the value of veterinarians was better understood with the pandemic. In the program that started with the opening speech of Ali Eroğlu, Chairman of the Central Council of the Turkish Veterinary Medical Association (TVHB), Eroğlu pointed out that World Veterinarians Day, which is celebrated all over the world, is an important day and said, “Today for veterinarians whose numbers are 1,8 million in 6 continents, has been a source of honor. Veterinarians both in the world and in our country deserve such a special day. This year we celebrate this day in a bitter way. We commemorate Volkan Lale, who was martyred on April 25 while protecting the health of the people, with mercy once again. We expect the criminals to receive the punishment they deserve with the manifestation of justice as soon as possible.”
“VETERINARY MEDICINE IS A DIFFICULT PROFESSION”
Noting that veterinary medicine is hard a profession, Chairman of the Parliamentary Agriculture and Rural Affairs Commission, Prof. Dr. Yunus Kılıç emphased that the veterinary profession is an important profession, and said, “The theme shows us that this profession is a challenging one, and that employees choose a challenging profession. Veterinarians continue their work in mountain, stone and harsh environments.” In the program, Erciyes University Vaccine Research and Development Application Center Manager, TURKOVAC vaccine inventor Prof. Dr. Aykut Özdarendeli and the manufacturer of the vaccine, Dollvet Biotechnology General Manager Dr. Hüseyin Zengin made a presentation on the latest developments in the vaccine. Then, the awards were presented to the reporters who supported the creation of the agenda related to the field. Milli Gazete Correspondent Mehmet Fahri Özkan was presented with the award by Ali Eroğlu, Chairman of the Central Council of the Turkish Veterinary Medical Association (TVHB).
