MHP Chairman Devlet Bahceli made statements regarding the agenda at the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) Group Meeting of his party. Responding to Republican People’s Party (CHP) Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's call for ‘the headscarf to be legally secured’, Bahçeli supported the energy crisis in the world and the Alewite initiative of the government.
“THEY SHOULD SUPPORT THE CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT”
Making a call to the CHP for a headscarf, Bahçeli said, “If they are sincere, they should support the constitutional amendment proposal on the agenda.” Bringing the Alewite initiative to the agenda, Bahçeli said, “We cannot waste our tomorrows by getting stuck in the events of the past. The fact of the djemevi, which has a place in the lives of our Alewite brothers, must be accepted.” Bahçeli, repeating his suggestions in 2009, said that an arrangement should be made in the Presidency of Religious Affairs (DİB) to represent the Alewite belief within its body and that state aid should be given to djemevis.
