The protest was held after the Friday prayer. Demonstrators expressed implacable opposition to normalization of relations between Manama and Tel Aviv, according to Bahraini independent newspaper Manama Post.
They also underscored support for the Palestinian cause and resistance against the occupying regime.
Bahrain’s main opposition group al-Wefaq and the kingdom’s top cleric Sheikh Isa Qassim have condemned the normalization.
Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates signed US-brokered normalization agreements with Israel in an event in Washington in September 2020.
Sudan and Morocco followed suit later in the year and inked similar US-brokered deals.
The move sparked widespread condemnations from the Palestinians as well as nations and human rights advocates across the globe, especially within the Muslim world.
Palestinians say the deals are a treacherous “stab in the back” and a betrayal of their cause against the decades-long Israeli occupation.
The protesters in Bahrain also denounced the arrest of prominent Shia Muslim cleric Sheikh Muhammad Sanqour, the Friday prayer leader of Imam al-Sadiq Mosque in Diraz. They rejected the "unacceptable" policy of arresting and targeting religious figures.
On Monday, a large number of Bahraini regime forces surrounded the house of Sheikh Sanqour and handed him a summons for interrogation. He was transferred to Public Prosecution soon after showing up at a local police station.
People poured into the streets to demand his immediate release as the news of Sheikh Sanqour’s detention broke.
