An official from the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami told the Milli Gazete about the persecution of Muslims in Bangladesh and the latest situation in the country.

The government of Sheikh Hasina Vecid, known for its proximity to India in Bangladesh, one of the most densely populated Muslim countries in the Asian continent, is increasing its pressure and violence against the Muslim community in the country.

The first massacre, which took place in 2013 and resulted in the execution of 5 Islamic scholars in the last 6 years, now targets Azharul Islam, former Secretary General of the Jamaat-e-Islami.

Azharul Islam was recently sentenced to death in Bangladesh's unlawful courts with false charges.

It is known that India, who does not want the development of Muslims on the Asian continent, is behind the repression of the Jamaat-e-Islami.

The Jamaat-e-Islami, an Islamic source of hope for the future of the people of Bangladesh, is coming out of all these difficulties by strengthening itself and continuing its honorable struggle.

The Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami official, whose name we kept confidential, answered our reporter Abdussamed Karatas' questions.

"THE GOVERNMENT OF BANGLADESH KILLS MUSLIMS WITH THE PROMOTION OF INDIA"

In your country, Bangladesh, a death sentence was issued about the Azharul Islam, one of the leaders of the Islamic community. How do you evaluate this decision?

"This is a purely political decision, in fact a decision to destroy the Jamaat-e-Islami, Bangladesh's most powerful, most organized and most visionary movement. It is well known that the massacres in Bangladesh are carried out with the encouragement of India to destroy the Jamaat-e-Islami by the government of Bangladesh."

What is the position of Azharul Islam in the Jamaat-e-Islami?

Azharul Islam, who was ordered to be executed, is the former general secretary of the Jamaat-e-Islami and one of the strongest surviving leaders in the Jamaat-e-Islami.

What are the charges against the Islamic community, and what reasons lie behind these slanders?

"In fact, as you know, there is only one accusation against the Jamaat-e-Islami, which is the defense of the integrity of the Pakistani state by the Jamaat-i Islami movement in the 1971 Pakistani civil war. The Jamaat-e-Islami argued that Pakistani Muslims should not be divided into two different states in order to prevent Indian imperialism from spreading to the region. These accusations are actually slanders produced in order to prevent Bangladesh from being a conscious and powerful Muslim community and to take Bangladesh completely under the control of India."

"OUR MARTYRED LEADERS WERE A SOURCE OF HOPE FOR BANGLADESH"

The leaders of the Jamaat-e-Islami who were executed were also the most educated, the most cultured, the wisest people in Bangladesh. What have these executions lost to the people and society of Bangladesh?

"The oppressors not only slaughtered our leaders, but in one sentence they murdered the future of Bangladesh. Our martyr leaders, who were executed, were a source of hope for the Jamaat-e-Islami and for Bangladesh as a whole. May Allah have mercy on them. We remember them with longing and mercy."

How do the people of Bangladesh treat these atrocities? Are there enough reactions to the government in public?

"The people of Bangladesh view these executions as completely unlawful and realize that the pressures come from India. People are very reactive to this injustice, there are people going down the streets to defend the Jamaat-e-Islami, and many people were killed in these anti-government protests. But the oppressors should know that these executions, these atrocities have strengthened the Jamaat-i Islami and will bring the Jamaat-e-Islami to power when the people of Bangladesh find the smallest opportunity."

India is known to have serious pressure on the government of Bangladesh. Considering the pressure of India on Pakistan and Kashmir, what kind of sedition operation is being translated in the region. What can you say about this?

"As you know, India is working as a curator of Zionism in South Asia with its separatist and repressive policies. The purpose and goal of India is clear. In the Indian subcontinent, Pakistan is exerting all kinds of strife and oppression to destroy Muslims in countries such as Kashmir and Bangladesh. We can also read the atrocities suffered by the Jamaat-e-Islami in Bangladesh as a result of this corruption."

"Our greatest expectation is your prayer"

What can Islamic countries do to stop the atrocities in Bangladesh? What are your expectations?

"The persecution in Bangladesh has already been going on for 10 years. No Muslim country has taken a serious step in this regard. Non-governmental organizations from some Muslim countries have helped in some issues. For instance, we see the community and the support of organizations such as the National Vision in Turkey. Our expectation is your prayers. I hope that this persecution will end as soon as possible."
