Palestine, which is under occupation of Zionist Israel, goes to the ballot box after 14 years… After the elections in 2006, Hamas and the Fatah Movement will come together in Cairo and provide unity.

Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas signed the decree stipulating that parliamentary elections would be held on May 22, 2021, and presidential elections on July 31, 2021. The country under Israeli occupation, there were divisions between Hamas and the Fatah Movement in the events of Dahlan after the elections in 2006. In Palestine, where elections have not been held for 14 years, Hamas and the Fatah Movement, which recently took joint steps against Israel's invasion steps and gave the message of "fighting together", are coming together in Egypt in order to completely melt the ice between them during the election process. The first point of the talks that will start as of this week is the resistance against Jerusalem and the occupation together. Many political movements, especially Hamas and the Fatah Movement, that contribute to the Palestinian resistance will hold talks in Cairo during the election process to consolidate unity and solidarity. In Palestine, Minister of Youth and Sports, Minister of Health and President of the Palestinian International Relations Council, who held various positions. Basem Naim evaluated the upcoming elections to our newspaper.

"AN IMPORTANT STEP IN TERMS OF ACHIEVING UNITY AND INTEGRITY"

President of the Palestinian International Relations Council, Dr. Basem Naim said, “We see the Palestinian elections as a constructive and positive step for Palestinian institutions and organizations. We have failed to overcome the separation of our institutions and organizations through dialogue and to become one again. It is important for these elections to take place after 50 years of division and destruction and to enter a political process. In this regard, I believe the elections will be an important step in ensuring unity and integrity. It is too early to say something about what the new government will look like. As a result, we want a national government that will represent the entire Palestinian people in the upcoming government”.

"WE WILL DISCUSS THE SELECTION PROCESS IN CAIRO"

Stating that the Palestinian resistance movements will begin to meet in Cairo as of February, "We have a Presidential decision regarding the elections. All units started to work on election preparation. We have many topics to be discussed. Among the topics we will discuss will be Jerusalem, a free resistance movement in the West Bank, and lifting the embargoes against Gaza. It is too early to say anything about alliances. As long as the Palestinian parties support the political programs of Hamas, which respects the national rights of the Palestinian people, especially Jerusalem, resisting the occupation and conducting refugee policies," he said.
