A late goal by Vincent Aboubakar helped Besiktas shock Naples 3-2 in a UEFA Champions League match Wednesday.
The match at the Stadio San Paolo in Naples was the first time the Turkish team met the Italian heavyweights in European competition and the first win for the Black Eagles in the Champions League since 2009 when it beat Manchester United.
Adriona Claro opened the scoring for Besiktas with a goal in the 12th minute, before the team squandered one of two leads in the match. Aboubakar added a score in the 38th minute before the eventual game winner on a header in the 86th minute.
After trailing 2-1 at the break, Manolo Gabbiadini converted a penalty kick in the 69th minute to tie the match but Dries Mertens was unable to capitalize on a penalty kick after scoring first for the hosts.
The loss for Napoli was its first in the Champions League this season and puts Besiktas in second place in Group B with 5 points, just one behind Napoli.
