Speaking to the American ABC channel, President Joe Biden evaluated the decision to leave Afghanistan, the situation in the evacuation process and the latest developments.

Emphasizing that the decision to leave Afghanistan was correct and that he was behind his decision, Biden explained the reasons for their decision.

Biden also stated that while making the decision in question, they also evaluated the situation "there may be chaos" during the decision-making process.

Explaining that they are not sure what the Taliban will do about whether to allow the Americans to leave the country, Biden said, "So what are they doing now, they are cooperating. They allow American citizens to leave." he said.

Asked for his opinion on the images of chaos that emerged at Kabul's Hamid Karzai Airport, Biden said: "I thought we should get control as soon as possible and act fast. And we did." he said.

Referring to the former President Ashraf Ghani, who left Afghanistan, and the Afghan security forces, who did not make any defense against the Taliban, Biden said that it was the right decision for them to leave the country for exactly these reasons.

"I could have made a simple decision. If I had said we were staying then we should have been prepared to send a lot more troops there." Biden said that with his decisions, he prevented many American soldiers from dying in Afghanistan.

US SOLDIERS WILL REMAIN UNTIL THE EVACUATION OF ALL AMERICANS

When asked what they would do if the evacuation process of all Americans wishing to leave Afghanistan was delayed after August 31, Biden said that some US soldiers would stay if necessary.

"There are 10,000 to 15,000 Americans in Afghanistan, right? Do you promise that the troops will stay there until all Americans who want to leave the country are evacuated?" Biden replied, "Yes."

Biden emphasized that this does not mean that they will remain in Afghanistan after August 31st, and that if there are Americans who still need to be evacuated, they will look at how many and how many soldiers will remain on August 31st, but they will remove the remaining citizens.
