Shelled hazelnuts purchased from the producer for 31-32 Turkish Liras (TL) are exported for an average of 45 TL. While the export companies, which do not exceed the finger of one hand, make big profits, the manufacturer suffers a big blow in the face of increasing costs. Saadet Party Sakarya Provincial Chairman Hasan Zengin stated that there is a great monopoly in hazelnuts and that the state has not taken a step to break this monopoly. Zengin pointed out that the increase in the dollar was not reflected in the producer prices, and that the cream formed here went into the pockets of 3-5 exporting companies due to monopoly.

Saadet Party Sakarya Provincial President Hasan Zengin made important evaluations to the Milli Gazete about what happened in the hazelnut market. Emphasizing that the producers are in a difficult situation due to the increasing input costs, Zengin pointed out that the exporter companies make a big profit since the exchange rate increase is not reflected in the producer prices.

EXPLAINED THE BIG HIT ON HAZELNUT WITH NUMBERS

Zengin, explained big hit on hazelnut with figures. Reminding that the export price of hazelnuts is 6,5 dollars, Zengin said that the equivalent of shelled hazelnuts is 3,3 dollars. Pointing out that the TL equivalent of 3,3 dollars is 45 TL at today's exchange rate, Zengin said, on the other hand, that the sale price of shelled hazelnuts at the producer is between 31 and 32 TL. Emphasizing that exporter companies buy shelled hazelnuts from the producer for 31-32 TL and sell them to importers for 45 TL, Zengin said, “This means a terrible profit. Exporting companies that normally work with a profit of 25 to 30 cents are currently operating with a profit of close to 1 dollar per kilogram of in shelled hazelnuts.

EXCHANGE INCREASE MUST BE REFLECTED ON HAZELNUT PRICES ASAP

Noting that the exchange rate increase should be reflected in hazelnut prices as soon as possible, "While the producer is having a hard time due to the increasing input costs, it is accepted that three or five exporting companies that do not exceed a finger of one hand make terrible profits on hazelnuts. It is not an acceptable situation,” Saadet Party Sakarya Provincial President Hasan Zengin added.

THERE IS A GREAT MONOPOLIZATION ON THE HAZELNUT MARKET

Emphasizing that there is a great monopoly in the shelled hazelnut market, Zengin said that ‘TMO’ in particular, the Union of Chambers of Agriculture of Turkey and ‘FISKOBIRLIK’ did not take a step against this monopoly. Noting that the price sold by the producer from 31-32 TL urgently needs to be increased to 40 TL, Zengin pointed out the importance of the government taking these steps in favor of the producer.
