The value of Bitcoin plummeted below the $11,000 threshold on Friday to hit a record low in December, a particularly volatile month for the cryptocurrency.
Bitcoin's market capitalization now stands at $200 billion, a drop from over $310 billion on Dec.17. It was changing hands at $11,565 at 1500GMT after dropping to $10,834 on Friday.
The cryptocurrency surged in value from under $1,000 at the start of 2017 to $20,000 on Dec 17.
