The bread hike, which caused controversy in some parts of Istanbul, came into effect after the election. Accordingly, the price of 240 grams of bread, which was 5 TL in bakeries, increased to 6 TL.
Making statements after the bread hikes held before the election came into effect, Bread Producers' Union President Cihan Kolivar stated that the bread sold for 6 TL may also increase in June.
MORE HIKES ON THE WAY
Noting that worker hikes will also increase costs in July, Kolivar said, "Bakers don't want to wait any longer. Currently, 240 grams of bread is sold for 6 TL. In the coming period, the weight of the bread can be increased and sold for 10 TL."
Stating that the capacity of the bakeries in Istanbul has also decreased, Kolivar said, "Now there should be a standard in weight. We need to bring price difference from county to county. Because the rent and other costs of each district are different. The government started from scratch, so let's start from scratch. Let's cut costs. We are also considering removing cars from service. If we take wheelbarrows from the bakeries to the grocery stores in the neighborhood, we will save at least 30 thousand TL."
