The Ministry of Treasury and Finance announced the budget implementation results for December 2021 and January-December term.
Accordingly, in December 2021, budget revenues increased by 40 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and rose to 135 billion 71 million Turkish Liras (TL).
In the same period, budget expenditures increased by 100,9 percent and reached 280 billion 814 million TL.
Last month, the budget deficit was calculated as 145 billion 743 million TL.
Budget revenues increased by 36,8 percent in 2021 compared to the previous year and reached 1 trillion 407 billion 399 million TL, and budget expenditures increased by 32,9 percent to 1 trillion 599 billion 642 million TL.
Thus, the central government budget deficit increased by 9,7 percent last year and was recorded as 192 billion 244 million TL.
180,8 BILLION TL TO INTEREST IN 1 YEAR
In December 2021, interest expenses were recorded as 8 billion 960 million TL, with an increase of 83,2 percent compared to the same month of the previous year.
Interest expenses in 2021, on the other hand, increased by 35 percent and amounted to 180 billion 852 million TL.
DEFICIT INCREASES IN EVERY YEAR!
Again, according to the data of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, while Turkey's central government budget deficit was 72,6 billion TL in 2018, it increased to 123,7 billion TL in 2019.
The budget deficit, which was 172,7 billion TL in 2020, increased to 192,2 billion TL in 2021, according to the latest data of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance.
The regular increase in the budget deficit every year caused comments that 'the gap is getting bigger'.
