The Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) 2023 budget negotiations will be completed tomorrow. While the Presidency has been working on the 2023 budget, which was submitted to the Parliament on October 17, at an intense pace for about two months, the tension and fights during the negotiations left their mark on the budget. In addition, interesting calculations made by government representatives, ministers and deputies preceded the budget figures.
10 DAY HOLIDAY AFTER THE BUDGET
The parliament's budget marathon will be completed tomorrow with speeches and voting on the entire budget. Government representatives and the opposition will make their final speeches on the budget. After the budget is sent to the Presidency, the Parliament is expected to take a 10-day recess. It is stated that many bag bills, especially the Retirement Age Victims (EYT) regulation, will come before the deputies who will start working in the new year.
FIGHTS MARKED THE BUDGET
Due to the final budget before the election, there were severe tensions during the negotiations. On the second day of the talks, after the fight between Justice and Development Party (AKP) and Good (IYI) Party deputies, IYI Party Trabzon Deputy Hüseyin Örs had a heart attack. While the situation in question reveals the tension in the TBMM, AKP Deputy Chairman Nurettin Canikli compared the purchasing power of the minimum wage a year ago with today's, saying, “Last year, it was 41 kilos of beef could be bought with a minimum wage, now it is 42 kilos. There is not much increase, but it has not decreased…” his defense marked the negotiations.
