Before the panel, a joint press statement was held calling for an end to China's atrocities in East Turkestan.
Making a call to Muslim countries, IHH Chairman Bülent Yıldırım said, "China should see a block against it."
IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation, Fatih Sultan Mehmet Foundation University, International Refugee Rights Association, International Union of East Turkestan NGOs, East Turkistan Human Rights Watch Association, National Turkish Students' Union, FSMVU Law Club, Young IHH and İNSAMER, "Genocide and the Quest for Rights” panel was held jointly.
Before the panel held at Fatih Sultan Mehmet Foundation University, a joint press statement was made on behalf of the organizations.
In the press statement made by the President of the International Refugee Rights Association, Atty. Abdullah Resul Demir, it was stated that China detained nearly 3 million people in concentration camps, the number of which was stated to exceed 1,200, "The obvious other name for Chinese atrocities is step-by-step genocide. Against this persecution of China; We call the national and international public to awareness. Today, the Uyghurs face mass persecution as a people whose most basic human rights have been deprived of them," he said.
“DOORS OF HOUSES ARE LOCKED BY WELDING”
The statement that stated that Uyghur language has been removed from all educational institutions in the Uyghur region continued as follows:
"Religious education and teaching are prohibited, it is forbidden to keep and read religious books including the Qur'an, to pray, to grow a beard, to wear a headscarf and to wear long skirts. Now, to these atrocities, the Chinese government's obligation to be confined to home due to the irrational 'Zero Covid' has been added. The doors of the houses are closed with welding machines, and people are not allowed to go out even to meet their most basic needs."
“MUSLIM STATES SHOULD OPEN CONSULATE”
Speaking after the press release, IHH Chairman Bülent Yıldırım stated that there was great persecution in East Turkestan.
"The Islamic world is strong. But you have to be confident. China is the market for the Islamic geography. If the Islamic geography cuts off the trade, China will be helpless. Sanctions should be imposed on China. The states of the Islamic world should open consulates in all cities of East Turkestan," Yıldırım said.
“OUR PRESIDENT MUST CALL A MEETING”
Stating that Turkey played a critical role in the grain corridor crisis between Ukraine and Russia, Yıldırım continued as follows:
"We invite our President to urgently invite the Turkic Republics and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to a meeting on East Turkestan. China should see a block against it. I believe that if our President assumes a similar important role in the issue of East Turkestan, he will have a very positive return to East Turkestan."
“AGREEMENT ON EXTRADITION OF THE OFFICIALS SHOULD NOT PASS THROUGH THE TGNA”
"If Turkey carried out diplomacy for 10 days, everything would be very different. China is not as strong as one might think. China has turned houses into concentration camps and prisons in East Turkestan. Talk time is over. Turkey should use the power God has given to Turkey for East Turkestan. An extradition agreement was signed between Turkey and China in 2017. If this agreement passes the Turkish Grand National Assembly, the people of East Turkestan will be handed over to China. Just as Austria trashed this agreement, Turkey should also cancel this agreement," Yıldırım added.
“WOMEN ARE EXPOSED TO SEXUAL ABUSE”
Abdulahad Udun, Secretary General of the East Turkistan Human Rights Watch Association, who took the floor after Yıldırım said that China had committed great atrocities during its 73-year occupation in East Turkestan.
"More than 8 million people are held in detention camps in East Turkestan. While the natural resources of East Turkestan meet the needs of 1.4 billion Chinese, the local people are kept below the poverty line. Women are subjected to forced sterilization, abortion and sexual abuse by China. Genocide is being systematically applied to the people of East Turkestan. According to reports, more than 20,000 mosques and masjids were destroyed by the Chinese state or forced into misuse," he said.
