The two scenes we experienced a week apart showed that the fight against coronavirus should not be left to the will of the people.

30 metropolis and Zonguldak city spent the last two weeks with curfew.

Since the curfew to be implemented this weekend was clear days ago, there was no turmoil on Friday evening the previous week. Silence prevailed in the streets of metropolitan cities, hours before the ban began, as citizens met their needs days or hours before. This event also shows that the greatest responsibility in the fight against the virus falls on the state. One of the biggest mistakes is to blame the people and leave the vital measures in this struggle to the people's will.

THE PEOPLE WITHDRAWED FROM STREETS 2 HOURS BEFORE STARTING CURFEW

Less than 1.5 hours before the start of the curfew on the weekend under coronavirus measures, the streets of Istanbul remained empty. Contrary to the congestion last week, citizens who did their shopping early were drawn to their homes without waiting for the curfew time to begin.

After the curfew, which was announced last week, the citizens of 30 metropolitan cities and Zonguldak, who spent Saturday and Sunday at home, will stay home at the end of this week. Contrary to the confusion and confluence experienced last week, the citizens made their shopping this week in accordance with the social distance rule with the announcement of the decision taken weekly.

This time silence prevailed in Kurtuluş and Kasımpaşa, where citizens who went out to shop before the curfew announced a week ago formed long queues. The citizens, who completed their shopping in the evening, retreated home early. Less than 1.5 hours before the curfew began, the streets of Istanbul remained empty.
