Turkey's Ambassador to Washington Hasan Murat Mercan and New York Consul General Reyhan Özgür were also present at the celebration, which was held for the first time at the New Türkevi Center.

“Ambassador Hasan Murat Mercan and New York Consul General Reyhan Özgür hosted the Hanukkah celebration held at the Turkevi Center, organized by the members of the Turkish Jewish community living in the USA and Turkey. 200 people, including leaders from the Jewish community and members of the Turkish American community, attended the celebration, which was held for the first time at the New Türkevi Center. Asaf Zamir, Consul General of Israel in New York, also attended the event and gave a speech.”

The New York Consulate General also made a statement regarding the Hanukkah celebration held at Turkevi Center.
In the aforementioned statement, “Ambassador Murat Mercan and Consul General Reyhan Özgür hosted the Hanukkah celebration held for the first time in Turkevi Center with members of the Turkish American Jewish Community, Turkish Jewish representatives in Turkey and friends from the USA. On the other hand, Mendy Chitrik, who is the chairman of the board of directors of the Union of Rabbis in Islamic States, also expressed his gratitude to Mercan, Turkey's Ambassador to Washington,” the statement said.
