Cansuyu Aid and Solidarity Association, which aims to be there wherever there is pain and suffering, extended a helping hand to the people in the region after the difficult process in Kenya.

The association distributed food packages consisting of basic food items and cooking oil to 10,000 people staying in camps and villages in Marereni, Tana Salt, Minjila and Tulu regions affected by drought on Kenya's Somali border.

Kenyans and Somalis living in the villages and camps where aid was distributed received their aid accompanied by prayers.

"THERE IS A SERIOUS DEPRIVATION IN THE REGION"

Bilal Değirmenci, Kenya Coordinator of the Cansuyu Aid and Solidarity Association, who gave information about the situation and aid in the region, stated that the drought in the region has made itself felt seriously especially in the last year, "As the Cansuyu Association emergency aid team, we are in Kenya, an East African country. We delivered humanitarian aid to the regions most affected by the drought that has been going on for a year, affecting the areas of Kenya close to the Somali border, Somalia and the southern regions of Ethiopia. The people in the regions where we deliver aid are mostly engaged in animal husbandry and have lost their herds, their animals have perished. These people face serious difficulties to continue their daily lives. We often see animals dying of thirst everywhere around here. There is serious deprivation right now," he said.

Değirmenci noted that the loss of people in the region is very serious.

"People suffered serious losses. We witnessed people who lost their herds of 100 and 200 animals. We also visited the camps where internal migrants from the Somali border regions live. We are helping these regions by making our plans. In the first stage, we distributed food to 10,000 people and qurban meat to 12,000 people. We held talks with institutions and organizations to re-develop the region. Hopefully, our activities in the region will continue," he added.
