After the internal turmoil in the Central African country of Cameroon, the need for urgent humanitarian aid in the country continues. In the Kousseri region at the northernmost tip of Cameroon, tensions between the two groups, some of which live on agriculture and livestock, and the other on fishing, due to reasons based on water and land use, continue.

FOOD ASSISTANCE TO THOSE AFFECTED BY THE CONFLICTS

Cansuyu Aid and Solidarity Association also sent its teams to Cameroon to heal the wounds in the region. The association, which closely followed the developments in the region from the first moment of the events, delivered its emergency aid to Cameroonian refugees.

The refugees in the city of Encemine, located on the Cameroon-Chad border, were distributed food parcels, which are basic food items and prepared to meet the monthly needs of a family, tent-type mosquito nets for their shelter, and large-size mats made of straw, to alleviate their problems.

EMERGENCY AID DELIVERED TO 10,000 VICTIMS

The votive, aqiqa and gratitude sacrifices, which are the relics of charitable donors from Turkey, were also slaughtered and their meat was distributed to over 6,000 people in need. In the emergency aid organization, approximately 10,000 people were helped.

Cansuyu continues to work on solving the problem in the region and eliminating the grievances of refugees in this process.

CONFLICT INCREASED IN THE LAST MONTH

Making statements about the organization held, Cansuyu Association Foreign Relations Coordinator Bilal Değirmenci stated that the refugees on the Chad-Cameroon border are struggling to survive under difficult conditions and explained the situation in the region:

"Thousands of people are suffering as a result of the conflicts between the two groups in Cameroon. Especially in December 2021, the events broke out again and about 200 people in the region lost their lives as a result of these clashes. In this process, approximately 50 thousand Cameroonians, mainly women, children and the elderly, crossed the border and took shelter in Chad. Unfortunately, a holistic help and solution initiative for these people, who are trying to survive in different places, in open areas or in simple tent-like shelters, could not be developed."
