Cansuyu Aid and Solidarity Association met the clean water needs of thousands of victims with 30 water wells drilled in the arid regions of Pakistan. Together with the water wells it opened, the association has opened a total of 80 water wells across Pakistan. It is aimed to drill 40 more water wells by the end of the year.
THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE HAVE ACCESS TO WATER WITH 30 WATER WELL
The decrease in precipitation rates in Pakistan with climate change causes a serious decrease in water resources. A total of 100 thousand people, 50,000 of whom are children, die every year in the country due to diseases transmitted by polluted water. Cansuyu Association, which opened 30 clean water wells in the Peshawar, Swabi, Charsaddai Mardan, Bannu, Lakki Marvat and Tank regions of Khyber Pakthunga province of Pakistan, provided thousands of people with access to potable clean water.
70 PERCENT OF PAKISTANIS DON'T HAVE ACCESS TO CLEAN DRINKABLE WATER
Making a statement about the organization held in Pakistan and the developments in the region, Cansuyu Association Foreign Relations Coordinator Bilal Değirmenci stated that the water crisis is gradually climbing to the top of the world agenda.
Değirmenci said the following about the water wells drilled in Pakistan:
"In Pakistan, whose population exceeds 220 million, 70 percent of the people do not have access to clean drinking water. This rate is much higher in rural areas. Drinking and using unsanitary water contaminated with bacteria causes health problems and sometimes epidemics. Babies and children are particularly affected by these diseases. Every year, around 53 thousand babies and children under the age of 5 die."
WATER NEEDS OF THOUSANDS OF VICTIMS IN THE REGION HAVE BEEN MEETED
Drawing attention to the fact that the association continues its activities in regions with high levels of grievances, Değirmenci stated that with the aim of reaching the victims, they opened water wells in the regions along Pakistan's Afghanistan border.
"We checked and opened a total of 30 clean water wells in the Peshawar, Swabi, Charsaddai Mardan, Bannu, Lakki Marwat and Tank regions of Khyber Pakhtunkha province and put them into the service of the people of the region. With the completed project, 1,500 Pakistani people in the region and Afghan refugees who took refuge in the region as immigrants during the wars had access to clean water," Değirmenci said.
