Continuing its activities in the country and all over the world, Cansuyu Aid and Solidarity Association continues to work with great effort to deliver the aid it provides in 23 different fields to the real needy.
Continuing its activities, Cansuyu Aid and Solidarity Association became the first international organization to initiate relief efforts for the victims of the civil war in Ethiopia.
Cansuyu Aid and Solidarity Association, which aims to be there wherever there is pain and suffering, most recently organized an emergency aid organization for families in need in Ethiopia, the second largest and most populous country in East Africa.
The association reached Ethiopia, where the people suffered greatly after the internal conflicts between the central government and the army and the Tigray-based Tigray People's Liberation Front forces, one of the northern states of the country, for a year.
Cansuyu Association, which closely monitors the region during the conflict and war period of more than a year and is in constant contact with civil organizations from different states, became the first international organization to start working for the civilians affected by the war in the country by sending an emergency aid team to the region after the necessary preparations.
“WE TRY TO HEAL THE WOUNDS OF THE CIVIL WAR”
Making statements about the organization and the situation in the region, Cansuyu Foreign Relations Coordinator Bilal Değirmenci said that the people in the region are in a difficult situation after the one-year civil war in Ethiopia and that they are trying to heal the wounds as Cansuyu.
"As Cansuyu Association, we are trying to heal the wounds of our brothers in need in the country and all over the world by prioritizing crisis regions. Since November 2020, the Afar and Amhara states have been in a spiral of violence, including their regional armies, and have suffered a great deal of casualties. In this conflict environment where the loss of the armed parties is expressed in the hundreds of thousands, unfortunately, there is no clear number of civilian casualties," he said.
TRUSTS OF DONORS IN TURKEY HAVE BEEN REACHED TO THE VICTIMS
Cansuyu Association, whose relief efforts in the region were not limited to food distribution, put a smile on the faces of dozens of orphans who were victims of civil war in the cities of Kombolcha and Bati in the Wollo region. Orphan children were dressed with gifts consisting of shoes and clothes, which are relics of donors in Turkey. In the Wollo region, votive, aqiqa and gratitude sacrifices, which are the relics of philanthropists from Turkey, were also slaughtered and their meat was distributed to a thousand needy people.
1 MONTH OF FOOD AID GIVEN TO 15,000 WAR VICTIMS OF ETHIOPIA
The Cansuyu team, which made various meetings and plans in the capital Addis Ababa, distributed food packages within the scope of emergency humanitarian aid in the Wollo region of the Amhara state of the country. Food packages, which will meet the needs of a family for 1 month, were delivered to 9,000 Ethiopians living under difficult conditions in the cities of Dessie, Kombolcha and Bati in the Wollo region. In addition, emergency aid packages were delivered to 6,000 victims in the Dewe region on the border line of the Afar province, another region affected by the conflicts in the region, and a total of 15,000 war-affected Ethiopians were provided with food.
INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS CANNOT ENTER THE REGION DUE TO THE CONFLICT
Değirmenci stated that international aid organizations could not enter the region due to the conflicts and armed factors in the region, "Due to political conflicts and regional armed factors, international organizations have been unable to deliver almost no humanitarian aid to these regions for a long time. As Cansuyu, we are the first international organization to start our aid efforts for war victims in Ethiopia and reaching the region. We gave gifts to our orphans and sacrificed the relics of our donors and distributed their meat. This aid, which came from Turkey through the Cansuyu Association, was received very positively in the region. Hopefully, our assistance in the region will continue," he added.
