TÜRK-İŞ Confederation Chairman Ergün Atalay made remarkable statements on the 70th anniversary of their confederation. Atalay noted that the voices of workers and laborers were not heard in the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM).
“THE LABORER’S VOICE IS NOT HEARED IN THE ASSEMBLY”
Atalay, who criticizes that the working people are not represented in the Parliament, said, “We workers, as 17 million employees, are three-quarters of this country. However, there are 3 worker-origin deputies in the Assembly, where there are 600 deputies. We would hardly expect a decision in favor of the worker from a parliament where the capital is represented, not us."
“PRIVATIZATIONS DID NOT BRING BENEFIT TO THIS COUNTRY”
Atalay, who criticized the privatization policies of the government in the program attended by the Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Bilgin, “We have been expressing that critical sectors such as food and energy should not be privatized. Because privatizations are of no use to this country,” he added.
