Felicity (Saadet) Party Konya Deputy and Head of Youth Branch Abdulkadir Karaduman brought the crisis in the automotive industry to the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM). Karaduman, who submitted a parliamentary question to the Presidency of the Turkish Grand National Assembly upon the request of the Minister of Trade Mehmet Muş to answer, stated that the fluctuations and excessive increase in the exchange rate recently brought along various abuses in technology products and especially in the automotive sector.
ORDERS CANCELED
Referring to the problems that arose due to the increase in the exchange rate and the problems in car stocking, Karaduman said, “The automotive distributors keep the imported vehicles in the parks, sell them wholesale to galleries, make serious profits in this way, and galleries buy vehicles from dealers in bulk and sell them at 200 percent of the price to citizens. It is also among the allegations that dealers inflicts damage on the citizens by saying 'we do not have a vehicle' despite the fact that the dealers have vehicles in their stocks. It is also followed by the media that some companies, including well-known brands, canceled the previous orders and increased the prices of the products, citing the exchange rate as a reason.”
WHAT ARE THE IRREGULARITIES DETECTED?
Karaduman asked the following questions to the Minister of Commerce Muş: “What are your measures to protect the domestic producer and citizen in response to the exchange rate increase? Has an investigation been conducted against the allegations against the galleries, automotive distributors and dealers? What are the irregularities detected? Have any sanctions been applied? Has an investigation been carried out against the relevant companies within the scope of the order cancellations allegedly made on the basis of the exchange rate? What are the irregularities detected? Have any sanctions been applied?”
